Amira Hassan

A refugee and an immigrant.

Amira is a Palestinian refugee, born in Dubai, UAE. She grew up in Sharjah in the UAE where she acquired her education and built her career in Dubai. She immigrated to Canada towards the end of 2017.

Amira comes with 15+ years of experience working in various sectors across Canada and the global region. Having lived most of her life in the UAE, she has established her career there working with agencies such as Wunderman, FCB, M&C Saatchi, Ogilvy and more. She worked with clients across a vast and diverse region covering the Levant, GCC and North Africa.

A designer at heart.

Upon her arrival to Canada, she decided to follow her humble dream and set up on her own, working her way one step at a time, not subsided by a challenging new market and successfully delivering projects for companies and nonprofits during the global pandemic. She named her venture, y, in honor and memory of her beloved mother, Yoland, who was the main driver of her immigration to Canada. Her design agency, y, specializes in branding and editorial.

Since the incorporation of her business, Amira has cultivated and secured clients across Toronto, London (UK), Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Milan, and Tripoli (Lebanon) that focus on luxury, innovation, and culture.
