Lucy La Grassa, Ph.D., is a successful entrepreneur, strategic communications professional and leadership ethics advisor with over 30 years of experience building and running businesses.

As a Certified Training and Development Professional, Lucy co-founded Mussio La Grassa Elliott Krogh Inc. (MLEK), a training, consulting and advisory firm. As a Senior Partner, she specializes in leadership, developing business cases and reputation management.

She is the former President of Formidable Technologies Inc., where she led a group of business advisors who helped companies transition to leading-edge cloud computing technologies. She is also the former Senior Vice President of Whalefeather Inc., where she led indigenous economic, education and housing projects. Additionally, she is a Marketing Certified Consultant and former partner in a media, marketing and public relations firm that specialized in diversity and the global marketplace.

Early in her career, she was a reporter for CBC Radio Canada International before moving into the role of Assistant Director of Communications for the Ontario government, advising ministers and senior staff.

Lucy engages her TEC members by creating a safe and confidential environment that focuses on transformative learning. She says that today’s CEOs require a willingness to listen to staff and customers, create internal and external buy-in, and anticipate changes in the marketplace to reach their full potential.

Personal

  • In 1989, she founded a publishing house and developed The Prism Awards, renowned for training and mentoring young aspiring writers ages 7-14 to become professional writers. The Prism Award winner, Harvey Smith, wrote Siad of Somalia while in Grade 6. The Department of National Defence commissioned the book to launch Peacekeeping Day in Canada with over 80,000 copies in print in English and French.
  • Lucy has a husband, Lou La Grassa, and two children (Jessica and Dianna)
  • B.A. in Journalism from Ryerson University; M.A. and Ph.D. in Organizational Leadership and Transformational Education
  • An accomplished poet, involved in numerous award-winning human rights initiatives and enjoys wine-making in her spare time
