Bio:
As owner and principal consultant of Gonsalves Consulting Services. – GCS Neil develops and
delivers customized training solutions, seminars, and educational consulting services.
Neil Gonsalves has been a community college professor since 2006, teaching primarily in the
area of law enforcement ethics and diversity with a focus on justice studies. He was nominated
for the TVO 2010 Best Lecturer in Ontario award.
Concurrently with his teaching role, Neil fulfills the role of Director of Strategic Partnerships
and serves as a current member of the Board of Directors for the Immigrant Writers Association
(IWA), a Non-Profit Organization that provides programs, activities and services that empower
and support immigrant writers on their creative journey. He is a contributing author to IWA’s
fourth anthology, and is passionate about fostering an environment that promotes others to share
their diverse perspectives and worldviews.
He has been a TEDx speaker, a keynote speaker and guest lecturer at several community events
including, TEDx Trinity Bellwoods, the Project Management Institute’s Durham Highland’s
Chapter, and the Regional Municipality of Durham’s Regional Policy forum among others.
Prior to entering academia, he was the Senior Manager of Staffing and Development for the
Toronto branch of a publicly traded security integrator, with over 1,400 employees and 40,000
hours of weekly security contracts. In 2004, Neil Gonsalves served on a National Advisory
Board funded by Human Resources and Skills Development Canada, working on enhancing
literacy levels within the security industry in Canada, a project very close to his heart.
