Senior Cloud Engineer

 Purpose

The Senior Cloud Engineer operates within the Cloud Deployments team supporting both Azure and GCP platforms, as well as the associated governance to scale within an Enterprise. This valuable member of the team will be responsible for driving forward existing cloud infrastructure and pipelines employing industry leading DevOps practices.

Key Job Accountabilities

Key accountabilities include development, management and maintenance of functional governance engines to enable safe Enterprise-wide use of cloud, as well as the expansion of both internal and vendor-provided cloud resources. Level 3 support responsibilities are included as well.

Skills, Experiences and Functional Competencies

• Enthusiasm for infrastructure transformation via infrastructure-as-code and automation
• Strong development experience and delivery history in key scripting languages (Ruby, Python, Powershell, Groovy)
• Strong development experience, delivery history and breadth of language experience (Java, Scala, nodeJS)
• Proven experience with a cloud provider (Google Cloud, Microsoft Azure)
• Understanding of software release process (environments, distributed SCM, CI/CD).
• Strong communication skills, both written and spoken.
• Minimal educational requirements are a bachelor’s degree in computer science or engineering/mathematics discipline.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in Ruby, Python and Java, and experience in configuration management software (Ansible, Chef, Puppet). Strong knowledge of RedHat 7+ and Windows 2012 operating systems is also a plus. Experience within Canadian financial institutions a benefit.
